Extreme Cold Watch issued February 17 at 1:15PM CST until February 20 at 12:00PM CST by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX

* WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low
as 6 to 15 degrees across the Hill Country, Edwards Plateau, and
I-35 Corridor and between 15 and 20 degrees for the Coastal Plains
and Rio Grande Plains. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously
cold wind chills as low as 0 degrees are possible.

* WHERE...Much of south central Texas.

* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, from midnight Tuesday Night
to noon CST Wednesday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Wednesday
Night to noon CST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
