Lake Effect Snow Warning issued February 17 at 11:04AM EST until February 19 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Buffalo NY
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow and blowing snow. Additional snow
accumulations 10 to 18 inches in the most persistent lake snows.
Winds gusting as high as 40 to 50 mph today, producing areas of
blowing snow.
* WHERE...Orleans and Monroe Counties, mainly across northern
portions of the counties near the Lake Ontario shoreline.
* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult to impossible, especially
this afternoon and evening. Areas of blowing snow will
significantly reduce visibility, with near whiteout conditions at
times.
Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be
prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
