Description
Based on public meetings and resident feedback, the Borough of Forest Hills has engaged the USDA to cull the deer population in the Borough.
USDA staff will be in the Borough overnight on select dates during the months of February and March.
The culling will be done by USDA sharpshooters who are trained to hit a one-inch target at 100 yards multiple times. No special actions need to be taken by residents during the harvesting program.
Locations that will be used are public property, including parks, and private property where the owner requested that their land be used AND where the USDA is confident that the space is large enough to safely harvest the deer.
The harvested deer will be processed and donated to area food pantries.
As a reminder, per Ordinance 1084 or 2020, it is unlawful to feed deer in the Borough. https://ecode360.com/40347743#40347743
