Description
Update on our Spring 2025 seedling distribution
The Watershed Alliance and the Adams County Conservation District are preparing for our final two seedling distributions in partnership with the Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership—Spring 2025 and Fall 2025. Over the past three-plus years we’ve found homes in Adams County for more than 87,000 seedlings thanks to this collaboration. The first seedlings planted have already grown to more than 15 feet tall and are hard at work reducing erosion, stabilizing streambanks, and removing pollutants from our air and water. The seedlings also help reduce residential heating and cooling costs and lower stream temperatures, which in turn provides a beneficial habitat for plants, animals, and insects.
We’ve placed our seedling order with the Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership in preparation for the upcoming Spring 2025 distribution, and we expect to have access to around 7,500 seedlings to distribute in our area. As in the past we will be sharing an online request form that will allow Adams County residents to submit requests for specific seedling species. We’ll share the list of species on our website in February, the seedling request form will be available in March, and seedling pick-up is expected in mid-April. Be sure to watch for more detailed information in upcoming newsletters.
During our most recent distribution, in Fall 2024, more than 50 energetic individuals logged more than 320 hours of volunteer time. Our wonderful volunteers sometimes go home with sore muscles, but they always go home with a great feeling.
