Description
Flash Flood Warning issued January 31 at 1:46AM HST until January 31 at 3:30AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
At 146 AM HST, radar indicated that rainfall has eased over Maui
with the highest rates of around 1 inch per hour over the eastern
slopes of Haleakala. Stream gages were still showing high flow
levels and will remain elevated for several more hours.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Emergency management.
IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
in steep terrain.
This warning includes the entire island of Maui.
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
