Extreme Cold Watch issued January 19 at 3:58PM CST until January 22 at 9:00AM CST by NWS Houston/Galveston TX
* WHAT...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills
as low as 15 to 20 degrees. For the second Cold Weather Advisory,
very cold wind chills as low as 10 to 15 degrees expected. For the
Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Texas.
* WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, until noon CST Monday.
For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 9 PM Monday to 6 PM CST
Tuesday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Tuesday evening through
Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged
exposure.
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
