Freeze Watch issued January 19 at 3:18PM CST until January 21 at 1:00PM CST by NWS Corpus Christi TX
* WHAT...There is a Freeze Warning and a Cold Weather Advisory in
effect tonight, for sub-freezing temperatures as low as 26
degrees, and wind chills as low as 16 degrees. There is a Freeze
Watch and another Cold Weather Advisory for Tuesday night into
Wednesday, for temperatures as low as 25 degrees, and wind chills
as low as 15 degrees.
* WHERE...All of South Texas excluding the barrier islands.
* WHEN...For the Freeze Warning and first Cold Weather Advisory,
from midnight tonight to 9 AM CST Monday. For the second Cold
Weather Advisory, from 9 PM Monday to 9 AM CST Wednesday. For the
Freeze Watch, from late Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged
exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
