Flash Flood Warning issued January 10 at 6:25AM HST until January 10 at 7:30AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

At 625 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rainfall slowly diminishing
across Maui. Rain is falling at around an inch per hour across
windward areas, and streams across windward areas remain elevated.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
in steep terrain.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Keokea,
Haliimaile, Paia, Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela, Wailea, Pauwela,
Maalaea, Huelo, Ulupalakua, Makena, Waikapu, Wailuku and Waiehu.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.
