Special Marine Warning issued January 10 at 6:22AM HST until January 10 at 7:15AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

For the following areas...
Alenuihaha Channel...
Big Island Leeward Waters...
Maalaea Bay...
Maui County Leeward Waters...
Maui County Windward Waters...
Pailolo Channel...

At 621 AM HST, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts
were located along a line extending from 9 nm north of FAD Buoy P to
near FAD Buoy GG, moving southwest at 15 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and small hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
FAD Buoy OT, Cape Halawa, FAD Buoy C, FAD Buoy B, Kawaihae Harbor,
FAD Buoy F, FAD Buoy K, and Kahului Harbor.

Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding
downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are
wearing life jackets.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water, stay below deck if possible.
