Description
Snow Squall Warning issued January 3 at 3:42PM EST until January 3 at 4:15PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 342 PM EST, a hazardous snow squall was located along a line from
over Penn Hills to near Wellsville, moving southeast at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts
up to 35 mph.
SOURCE...Doppler radar and webcams.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township,
McCandless Township, Monroeville, Moon Township, McMurray,
Greensburg, Weirton, McKeesport, Steubenville, Washington,
Franklin Park, East Liverpool, Uniontown, Jeannette, Canonsburg
and Connellsville.
This includes the following highways...
Parkway North between mile markers 1 and 12.
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 7 and 57.
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 22 and 71.
Interstate 376 between mile markers 51 and 81.
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 62 and 84.
Wet roadways will quickly freeze. Black ice will cause roads,
bridges and overpasses to become slick and dangerous. Slow down and
be prepared for sudden loss of traction.
