Winter Storm Watch issued January 3 at 1:16PM CST until January 6 at 12:00PM CST by NWS Lincoln IL

The latest forecast trends have reduced the overall amount of
snowfall and also shifted the storm track slightly further south.

* WHAT...Heavy snow likely. A high probability (between 60-80%
chance) of at least 6 inches of snow. Heavy mixed precipitation
possible. A medium probability (between 40-60% chance) of at least
one tenth of an inch of accumulating flat ice.

* WHERE...Heavy snowfall across portions of central, east central,
southeast, and west central Illinois. Freezing rain and ice
accumulation confined to areas along and south of Highway 50
across southeast Illinois.

* WHEN...From late Saturday night through Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult.
The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
