Lake Effect Snow Warning issued January 2 at 9:42AM EST until January 5 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1
to 2.5 feet through Sunday. Greatest snow amounts expected in the
higher terrain of southern and eastern Erie County and northern
Crawford County. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce
blowing snow at times.
* WHERE...Crawford, Northern Erie, and Southern Erie Counties.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult or impossible at times due
to deep snow cover on roads and poor visibility. The hazardous
conditions may impact the morning and evening commutes on Thursday
and Friday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional periods of lake effect snow will
continue for Friday through the weekend.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
