Description
Special Weather Statement issued January 1 at 5:47PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 547 PM EST, Doppler radar was tracking snow showers along a line
from over Freeport to over Perryopolis, or along a line from 9 miles
northwest of Vandergrift to 9 miles northwest of Connellsville,
moving east at 25 mph.
Locations impacted include...
Penn Hills, Monroeville, Greensburg, McKeesport, Jeannette,
Latrobe, Connellsville, Vandergrift, Apollo, Plum, West Mifflin,
Murrysville, Wilkinsburg, New Kensington, Lower Burrell, Harrison
Township, North Versailles, O'hara Township, White Oak and
Monessen.
Visibilities will drop quickly to a half mile in the heavier snow
showers. Wind gusts to around 30 MPH are also possible.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 41 and 57.
Interstate 376 between mile markers 79 and 84.
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 45 and 95.
Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
