A Message from Borough Manager Marcus Jacobs
I want to share a few impressive accomplishments of our Public Works Crew.
During the infamous Snowmageddon of 2024, which struck on Friday, November 29th (the day after Thanksgiving), our plowing team displayed extraordinary dedication. The crew started at 7:00 AM on Friday and worked tirelessly throughout the weekend. Here’s the breakdown of their efforts:
Friday: 19 hours
Saturday: 9 hours
Sunday: 15.5 hours
Monday: 11 hours
This remarkable level of commitment, especially over a holiday weekend, ensured our streets were in far better condition than those of many other municipalities in the county. Their efforts did not go unnoticed.
Trash Collection Challenges
As many of you know, trash collection had to be canceled the week of December 2nd and resumed the following week. The cold weather and accumulated snow piles created additional challenges for the team. Despite these obstacles, they rose to the occasion.
While there were slight delays — Monday’s route carried into Tuesday, and Tuesday’s route carried into Wednesday — the team successfully completed collection for the entire Borough by mid-morning on Wednesday.
For context, the team typically collects from approximately 1,500 homes and handles about 22 TONS of municipal waste per week. This week, they managed to collect over 40 TONS of waste.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated and hardworking individuals serving our community. Please join me in expressing your gratitude to the Public Works Crew for their outstanding efforts during these challenging circumstances.
