Lake Effect Snow Warning issued December 11 at 2:50PM EST until December 12 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
in excess of 12 inches with isolated amounts up to 18 inches
possible. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE...Northern Erie and Southern Erie Counties.
* WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will be heavy at times tonight into
Thursday morning with rates up to 2 inches per hour. The snow band
may shift north over Lake Erie during the day on Thursday, before
shifting back south and weakening Thursday night.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
