Lake Effect Snow Warning issued December 2 at 10:21AM EST until December 3 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations
between 6 and 15 inches for much of the county. Locally higher
amounts up to 20 inches is possible in far northeastern Erie
County where a persistent Lake Huron connection is expected to
persist.
* WHERE...Northern Erie and Southern Erie Counties.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4
mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are
expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially
life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning
commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy lake effect snow remains possible
through Tuesday afternoon, although overall snowfall rates should
be less intense with rates near 1 inch per hour possible in the
heaviest bands. A Lake Huron connection is expected to persist and
impact the far northeastern portion of Erie County where locally
higher amounts are possible.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel
restrictions and delay unnecessary travel. Visit www.511pa.com for

Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use
extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
