Description
Winter Storm Watch issued November 27 at 10:21AM EST until December 2 at 7:00AM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations
in excess of 8 inches possible.
* WHERE...Crawford and Erie Counties.
* WHEN...From late Thursday night through Monday morning.
* IMPACTS...There is increasing confidence in a multi-day lake
effect snow event off Lake Erie, beginning on Friday. However,
there still remains some uncertainty in the exact placement and
timing of lake effect snow bands across the region and how quickly
snow will taper off early next week. Any heavy lake effect snow
bands will have the potential for 1 to 2 inch per hour snowfall
rates and poor visibility, as low as one quarter of a mile, which
could make travel difficult to impossible, especially along
Interstates 90, 86, and 79. The hazardous conditions could impact
the Friday morning and evening commutes and any post-holiday
travel.
Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
