Description
Flood Watch issued November 3 at 3:01AM HST until November 5 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR MAUI AND THE BIG ISLAND FROM LATE
TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...The island of Maui in Maui County and The Big Island.
* WHEN...From late tonight through Tuesday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
rapid runoff.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A trough of low pressure sliding by to the south of the
islands will send a plume of deep tropical moisture into the
eastern end of the state beginning late tonight. This
combined with a disturbance aloft will set the stage for
heavy showers and the potential for even a few thunderstorms.
The threat for heavy rain and flash flooding will be highest
over windward portions of Maui and the Big Island.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
