Description
NOTICE OF MANHEIM TOWNSHIP On Friday, October 25, 2024, the Manheim Township Board of Supervisors established a 30-day temporary burn ban for all of Manheim Township, effective today October 25, 2024. The burn ban was implemented due to a long period of dry conditions which aids a dangerous wildfire threat. The burn ban prohibits all open burning (which includes backyard fire pits and chimeneas). The effectiveness of this ban, however, relies on a strong partnership with our local response agencies to enforce the ban. For this reason, during the ban, York County 911 Dispatchers will dispatch local law enforcement to the reported burn, as well as notify the first due fire company/department. We understand this burn ban has the potential to disrupt some activities, however the weather has not been conducive to open or large burns without the threat of large wildfires that can damage land and structural property, not to mention Manheim Township Resident lives.
