Short-term Closure Tonight on the Route 462 Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge
Contractor to perform bridge jacking on Wrightsville side of bridge
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today there will be a short-term closure tonight at the interim repair project for the Route 462 Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River between Columbia in Lancaster County and Wrightsville in York County.
Weather permitting, at approximately 7:00 PM tonight, Thursday, September 26, a closure of up to 15 minutes will be implemented on the bridge so the contractor can perform bridge jacking on the Wrightsville side of the structure. Delays are expected during the stoppage.
The interim repair project includes repairing bridge beams and strengthening select columns on the west (Wrightsville) half of the bridge.
Vehicle, bike, and pedestrian traffic currently not restricted from using the bridge will be maintained throughout the construction period.
Long-term lane shifts will be in place. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction on the bridge for much of this project. However, there also may be short-term closures and intermittent single lane restrictions under flagging, as needed.
