Description
Attention Business Owners & Rental Property Owners.

Many have reached out to the Borough regarding recent increases in the fees for refuse collection. The Borough of Hatboro follows a Code of Ordinances which were established MANY years ago and times have changed but the Solid Waste ordinance has not. Over the past few years Council along with Staff have been reviewing, changing and updating our ordinances and found this one should be next.

Per the Borough of Hatboro Solid Waste Ordinance, all non-owner-occupied residential properties and commercial properties must pay a fee for refuse removal. Borough Staff gathered data and gave a presentation in 2023 to help to educate everyone on actual costs for trash/recycling collection. It was learned that refuse collection is expensive, and lately some concern has been expressed regarding the fees. You can see the trash presentation on our website at www.myhatboro.org or by clicking the link below:

At the September Committee meeting, President Bollendorf announced that he along with Councilman Myers and Councilwoman Shay will be participating in a town hall on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Pennypack Community Center, 130 Spring Avenue, Hatboro to discuss changes to the ordinance, suggestions from business owners and non-owner-occupied property owners. Changes to the ordinance must take place in 2024 to coincide with the 2025 budget.

Please come and participate in this discussion with Council who will be available for your questions and concerns as well as looking for feedback in order to amend this ordinance appropriately.
Please note that we will only take comments from business owners and non-owner-occupied rental property owners.

If you cannot attend this town hall and have concerns or questions to share, please send them in advance of the meeting to Borough Manager Diane Hegele at dhegele@myhatboro.org

We will continue to post notices on our website, facebook page, business pages and savvy citizen platform.

The Downtown Development Director will send an email to all businesses who are registered, and we are asking that you share this information with other business owners in the Borough as well as other landlords.

Thank you and we hope to see you on the 25th.
