Special Weather Statement issued August 28 at 5:17PM EDT by NWS State College PA
At 515 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking several strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from 24 miles northwest of Lock
Haven to 16 miles north of Jersey Shore to 13 miles northeast of
Montoursville to 17 miles north of Bloomsburg. Movement was east
southeast at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Williamsport, Montoursville, Muncy, Hughesville, Montgomery, Renovo,
Duboistown, South Renovo, Rohrsburg, Jamison City, Waller, Kettle
Creek Gorge, Waterville, Lairdsville, Central, Ralston, Biggertown,
Cammal, Trout Run, and Lincoln Falls.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Very heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
