Excessive Heat Warning issued August 26 at 8:41PM CDT until August 27 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Lincoln IL
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 111
expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and west central
Illinois, generally along and north of an I-72 to Danville line.
* WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight heat index values are only expected
to fall into the mid to upper 70s across most of the area.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
