Job Title: Executive Director of Gettysburg Area Recreation Authority
Location: Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania
Position Type: Full-Time
About Us: GARA is a cherished community resource nestled in the heart of Adams County and adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield. Our park provides recreational opportunities and a natural retreat for residents and visitors alike. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Executive Director to lead our park operations, ensuring a vibrant and well-maintained space for all to enjoy.
Job Summary: The Director of Recreation Park will oversee the daily operations, maintenanceteam, rentals and programming. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage both the administrative and physical aspects of the park, fostering a welcoming environment for the community while ensuring the park's long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of park operations, including facility maintenance, safety protocols, and administration and budget management.
* Program Development: Create and implement engaging recreational programs and events that cater to the diverse needs of the community.
* Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community groups, and stakeholders to enhance park usage and participation.
* Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and manage park staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
* Resource Management: Manage Park resources, including budgeting, fundraising efforts, and grant applications, to support park maintenance and program initiatives.
* Marketing and Outreach: Promote the park’s programs and events through various channels to increase community awareness and involvement.
Qualifications:
* Experience: Previous experience in park management, recreation, or a related field preferred.
* Leadership: Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the community and staff.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to think creatively and solve problems to ensure smooth park operations.
* Passion for the Outdoors: A love for nature and a commitment to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the park.
