Description
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued August 18 at 7:46PM EDT until August 18 at 8:30PM EDT by NWS State College PA
At 746 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Brickerville to Mountville, moving southeast at 15
mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Lancaster, Ephrata, Columbia, Lititz, Millersville, Willow Street,
Mount Joy, Manheim, East Petersburg, Akron, Leola, and
Salunga-Landisville.
This includes The Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 267 and
279, and from mile markers 284 to 287.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
Stay inside a well built structure and keep away from windows.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
