Description
Residential and recreational areas - Pine Street, E 10th Avenue, and Chapel Drive - will be sprayed for adult mosquitos today Thursday, August 15th.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will be onsite for the operation.
This operation will be conducted by York County’s Mosquito and Tick-Borne Disease
Control Program (Business License BU8376). The product that will be used is Clarke®
AquaDUET®. AquaDUET® is a water-based product designed to effectively control and
eliminate large populations of adult mosquitoes. We perform these sprays at night to avoid
contact with non-target insects such as bees and butterflies.
The product will be applied at a rate of 0.75 oz per acre which is the equivalent of a shot
glass over a football field. The product is designed to come into contact with flying
mosquitoes and therefore has no residual as it breaks down within 20 minutes after
application.
