The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northwestern Polk County in central Florida...
Sumter County in central Florida...
Levy County in northern Florida...
Citrus County in west central Florida...
Hernando County in west central Florida...
Hillsborough County in west central Florida...
Manatee County in west central Florida...
Pasco County in west central Florida...
Pinellas County in west central Florida...
Sarasota County in west central Florida...

* Until 800 AM EDT.

* At 447 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
6 and 12 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts
of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding
is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Tampa, Spring Hill, Clearwater, Lakeland, Largo, North Port,
Sarasota, Bradenton, Pinellas Park, Plant City, Temple Terrace,
Seminole, New Port Richey, Zephyrhills, Palmetto, Brooksville,
Inverness, Wildwood, Dade City and Williston.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
