Special Weather Statement issued August 4 at 6:19PM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL
At 619 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Orange Springs, or near Interlachen, moving northwest at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Gainesville, Interlachen, Melrose, Hawthorne, Melrose Landing, Orange
Heights, Gainesville Airport, Newnans Lake, Waldo, and Johnson.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for northern and
northeastern Florida.
