Description
Since the July 4th holiday, on a daily basis, excessive damage has been done to the Forks Township’s Lions Park. Damage includes garbage cans emptied on site and cans throw into the Bushkill Creek, fires set, trees cut down for firewood, rope swings hung from trees causing damage to the trees, and broken glass from alcoholic beverages. All of these against park rules and regulations.
The township must take action to preserve this area of open space.
Effective immediately, the parking areas for the park will be shut down beginning Friday afternoon through Monday morning. Access to the park will be by foot only.
Per a township ordinance, there is no parking on Bushkill Drive. This will be strictly enforced by the Forks Township Police Department and vehicles will be towed.
Township staff have spent hours each and every day this past week cleaning up the remnants of those who cannot abide by the rules to keep our parks clean and safe for all users.
The township is continuing to evaluate the best course of action for access to Lion’s Park.
We understand this affects all and appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
