Special Weather Statement issued June 30 at 7:14AM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 714 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Aspinwall, or near Penn Hills, moving east at 50 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Monroeville, Shaler Township, Plum,
Murrysville, Wilkinsburg, New Kensington, Lower Burrell, North
Versailles, Swissvale, O'hara Township, Forest Hills, Wilkins
Township, Oakmont, Fox Chapel, Turtle Creek, North Braddock,
Millvale, and Etna.
This includes the following highways...
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 47 and 63.
Interstate 376 in Pennsylvania near mile marker 72, and between
mile markers 74 and 84.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
