For Immediate Release - Crafton Borough Announces Pool Bathhouse Renovation
CRAFTON, PA - April 24, 2024 - Crafton Borough is excited to announce the Pool Bathhouse Renovation that began in October of 2023 will be completed by Memorial Day weekend. The Borough received a generous $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) for the renovation of the bathhouse at the Crafton Pool.
The funds have empowered the Borough to make much-needed upgrades and improvements to the aging bathhouse facility, ensuring it meets modern standards and provides an enhanced experience for pool visitors.
"We are thrilled to have been awarded this significant grant from the DCNR," said Kirsten Compitello, Crafton Borough Councilmember. "The Crafton Pool is a beloved community asset, and this investment will allow us to revitalize the bathhouse and provide our residents with top-notch amenities for years to come."
Renovations include a complete overhaul of the interior, with new walls, fixtures, lockers, and improved accessibility. The exterior will also receive some additions, with repairs to the sidewalks, painting, and a new water fountain.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this exciting project is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd at 5:30pm. Pennsylvania Senator Wayne Fontana and State Representative Dan Deasy will be in attendance to commemorate this milestone for the Crafton community.
"Parks and recreational facilities are vital for promoting healthy lifestyles and bringing people together," said Senator Fontana. "I'm delighted that this DCNR grant will enhance the Crafton Pool experience for local families."
The Crafton Pool first opened in 1965 and has been a summer tradition for generations of residents. The bathhouse renovation project reinforces the Borough's commitment to maintaining this treasured community asset.
