Flash Flood Warning issued May 9 at 5:22PM HST until May 9 at 7:30PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 730 PM HST.

* At 522 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over windward West Maui
and windward Haleakala. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 2
inches per hour with the heaviest rainfall over West Maui
mountains. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Rainfall is currently nearly stationary and will likely continue
over the next few hours.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
possible in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kahului, Kihei, Makawao, Pukalani, Haliimaile, Kula,
Haiku-Pauwela, Pauwela, Huelo, Paia, Puunene, Keanae, Maalaea,
Nahiku, Wailuku, Waiehu, Waikapu, Kipahulu, Waihee and Hana.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
