Description
Cheswick Borough will be conducting hydrant flushing beginning the week of May 13, 2024.

This process consists of opening fire hydrants and allowing water to flow freely from them for a short period of time. This important process enables Cheswick Borough to flush sediments from water mains, thus improving water quality; verifies that fire hydrants and valves are working properly and ensures the integrity of our water system.

As a result of this process, some residents may experience discolored water for a short period of time. There is no health hazard associated with the discolored water. Simply run the cold water tap for a few minutes and the discoloration will dissipate.

Flushing will take place Tuesdays through Thursdays between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM over an approximate 3 week period, weather permitting. Please drive carefully when driving though an area where hydrant flushing crews are present.
