Special Weather Statement issued May 1 at 8:17PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
At 817 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles east of Pedernales Falls State Park, or 11 miles north of
Dripping Springs, moving northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, Leander, Lakeway, Lago Vista, Bee Cave,
Hudson Bend, The Hills, Spicewood, Oatmeal, Cypress Mill, Pedernales
Falls State Park, Smithwick, Mansfield Dam, Jonestown, Briarcliff,
Point Venture, Volente, and Brushy Creek.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 200 AM CDT for
south central Texas.
