Special Weather Statement issued April 3 at 11:46AM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL
At 1146 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Unf to near Rochelle.
Movement was east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph and minor flooding due to heavy
rainfall.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor flooding due to heavy rainfall is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Gainesville, Saint Augustine, Palatka, Orange Park, Green Cove
Springs, Starke, Interlachen, Keystone Heights, Pomona Park, and
Hastings.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 500 PM EDT for northern and
northeastern Florida.
