Flood Warning issued January 24 at 2:15PM CST until January 24 at 6:00PM CST by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
Widespread road closures across the area continue. Rainfall rates
over the past 1-2 hours have been mainly 0.5"/hr or less, but over
already saturated grounds. Scattered showers will continue off and
on through tonight.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following
counties, Bastrop, Caldwell, DeWitt, Fayette, Gonzales, Karnes,
Lavaca, Lee and Wilson.
* WHEN...Until 600 PM CST.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated
with water and may not be passable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 211 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated slow moving
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned
area. Up to 7 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area. Most of this rain will come late tonight.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cuero, Gonzales, Yoakum, Luling, Giddings, La Grange,
Smithville, Kenedy, Karnes City, Schulenburg, Hallettsville,
Yorktown, Shiner, Flatonia, Moulton, Kosciusko, Nixon,
Waelder, Runge and Falls City.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
