Description
Hard Freeze Warning issued January 16 at 1:28AM CST until January 17 at 10:00AM CST by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
* WHAT...Periods of prolonged sub-freezing temperatures with
values as low as the single digits above zero. Some locations
will not climb above freezing until late Wednesday morning.
* WHERE...Much of south-central Texas.
* WHEN...Through 10 AM CST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While widespread sub-freezing temperatures
are currently in place this morning, Tuesday night into
Wednesday morning will be even colder for many areas,
especially across low-lying valleys.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
