Description
Hard Freeze Warning issued January 14 at 12:43PM CST until January 17 at 10:00AM CST by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
* WHAT...Periods of prolonged sub-freezing temperatures expected
with values as low as 10 to 15 degrees. Some locations will not
climb above freezing until Wednesday morning.
* WHERE...Majority of south central Texas.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 10 AM CST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lowest temperatures are expected Monday
night through Tuesday morning and Tuesday night into Wednesday
morning. Wednesday is trending as the coldest night, especially
across the low-lying valleys with lighter winds and mainly
clear skies expected.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
