Special Weather Statement issued January 14 at 6:00AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 557 AM EST, snow showers were located along a line extending from
8 miles south of Franklin to Oakmont to 8 miles southeast of
Triadelphia. Movement was east at 50 mph.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph, visibilities reduced to under 1 mile, and a
quick coating of snow on roads will be possible with these snow
showers.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township,
Morgantown, Wheeling, McCandless Township, Monroeville, Cranberry,
Moon Township, New Castle, McMurray, Greensburg, Weirton, McKeesport,
Steubenville, Hermitage, Sharon, and Indiana.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 68 in West Virginia near mile marker 10.
Interstate 70 in Ohio between mile markers 218 and 225.
Interstate 70 in West Virginia between mile markers 0 and 14.
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 57.
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 1 and 100.
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 138.
Interstate 79 in West Virginia between mile markers 155 and 160.
Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 96.
Parkway North between mile markers 1 and 13.
Interstate 376 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 84.
Snow will lead to reduced visibilities and hazardous travel
conditions.
Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this intense
snow shower. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads
are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the
squall passes your location.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
