Special Weather Statement issued January 14 at 5:20AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 519 AM EST, snow showers were located along a line extending from
near Wolfdale to 7 miles west of Sistersville. Movement was east at
35 mph.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph, reduced visibilities, and a quick coating
of snow on roads will be possible with these snow showers.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Bethel Park, Morgantown, Wheeling, Monroeville, McMurray,
Greensburg, McKeesport, Washington, Uniontown, Jeannette,
Moundsville, Canonsburg, Latrobe, Connellsville, Martins Ferry, New
Martinsville, Bellaire, Waynesburg, and Westover.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 68 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 31.
Interstate 70 in Ohio between mile markers 219 and 225.
Interstate 70 in West Virginia between mile markers 0 and 14.
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 57.
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 58 and 100.
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 50.
Interstate 79 in West Virginia between mile markers 149 and 160.
Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this intense
snow shower. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads
are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the
squall passes your location.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
