The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
* Special Marine Warning for...
Alenuihaha Channel...
Big Island Leeward Waters...
Big Island Windward Waters...
Maui County Windward Waters...
* Until 445 AM HST.
* At 251 AM HST, strong thunderstorms capable of producing
waterspouts were located 10 nm west of FAD Buoy F, moving
north-northeast at 40 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to nearly 50 knots.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves.
* Locations impacted include...
FAD Buoy OT, Upolu Point, FAD Buoy C, FAD Buoy B, Kawaihae Harbor,
FAD Buoy F, FAD Buoy M, and Honokohau Harbor.
Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding
downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are
wearing life jackets.
Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
