Winter Storm Warning issued January 7 at 4:15AM EST until January 7 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Albany NY
* WHAT...Snow will continue throughout the day. Additional
snowfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher
amounts near 5 inches are expected. Accumulations totaling 10 to
14 inches with locally higher amounts near 16 inches in Ulster
and Dutchess Counties are expected. Winds gusting as high as 30
to 40 mph in the higher terrain areas.
* WHERE...Portions of northwestern Connecticut, western
Massachusetts and mid Hudson Valley and eastern Catskills.
* WHEN...Through 7 PM EST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult today due to snow
covered roadways and reduced visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Though unlikely, there is a non-zero
probability of higher snowfall rates up to 0.5 inches per hour
throughout the day which could reduce visibility.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
