Flood Advisory issued December 16 at 11:17PM EST until December 17 at 2:30AM EST by NWS Jacksonville FL
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northern Florida, including the following
counties, Alachua and Marion.
* WHEN...Until 230 AM EST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1116 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between
1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Gainesville, Citra, Melrose, Alachua, Hawthorne, Archer,
Cross Creek, Rochelle, Newnans Lake, University Of Florida,
Gainesville Airport, Sparr, Orange Heights, Anthony,
Micanopy, Reddick, McIntosh, Flemington, Grove Park and
Lochloosa.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
