Flash Flood Warning issued November 30 at 9:19AM HST until November 30 at 12:30PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 1230 PM HST.

* At 919 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain continuing over the east
and southeast slopes of Haleakala. The highest rain rates were 1
to 2 inches between Keanae and Hana. The Hana Highway remains
closed between mile markers 40 and 41. Piilani Highway remains
closed at mile marker 16 and mile markers 29 to 31. Rainfall is
expected to continue into the afternoon.

HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in
drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and
other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures
expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kipahulu, Kaupo, Nahiku, Keanae, Hana, Haleakala National Park,
Wailua and Hamoa.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.
