Flash Flood Warning issued November 30 at 6:37AM HST until November 30 at 9:30AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 930 AM HST.

* At 637 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the east and
southeast slopes of Haleakala. The heaviest rainfall was between
Hana and Kipahulu with rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour. Sections
of Hana Highway east of Keanae, and Piilani Highway between
Ulupalakua and Kaupo are likely to have extremely dangerous
driving conditions.

HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in
drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and
other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures
expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kipahulu, Kaupo, Nahiku, Keanae, Hana, Haleakala National Park,
Wailua and Hamoa.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.

This warning replaces the previous warning that was in effect for
east Maui.
