Description
Please be mindful of motorists when locating your signs for your favorite candidate(s) and/or holiday decorations. Large signs located within the standard 75’ x 75’ clear sight triangle of an intersection can block the view of oncoming motorists, making it dangerous for vehicles to pull into the oncoming lane of travel. Arterial roads such as Carlisle Road, Harmony Grove Road, Davidsburg Road, Canal Road, South Salem Church Road, etc., have a longer requirement of 150’ along the roadway centerline. Signs should not be located within a street right-of-way, and a diagram has been attached to this message identifying a clear sight triangle. As a general rule, no object over 3’ should be located within a clear sight triangle, though the elevation & slope of the road could lessen that height requirement. Safely locating items near an intersection does not only apply to larger political signs. Halloween & Christmas are around the corner, and large inflatable decorations could also be hazardous to the visibility of motorists. This cautionary approach should also be used for locating real estate signs & yard sale signs. Please be mindful of motorists during this election & holiday season, and help keep our community moving through them safely.
