Lane Restrictions Planned for Traffic Signal Upgrades on Route 30 in York County
Signals to be upgraded at intersections in Route 30 corridor, other routes
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that nighttime lane restrictions are planned on Route 30 in York County so a contractor can perform work to upgrade traffic signals from Kenneth Road in West Manchester Township to North Hills Road in Springettsbury Township.
Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, October 30. The contractor will work from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM Monday through Thursday nights beginning Monday, October 30, and continuing during those days and hours for the next three weeks. There will be short-term lane closures as needed on Route 30 between Kenneth Road and North Hills Road.
This work is part of a project that consists of upgrading and coordinating traffic signal controllers on a 4.1-mile section of Route 30 and on other routes in the City of York, North York Borough, and Manchester, West Manchester, Springettsbury, and Spring Garden townships.
This project also consists of signal improvements that include replacing 8-inch signal heads with 12-inch signal heads, the addition of backplates with reflectorized strips to all signal heads, and pedestrian countdown signals and ADA compliant pedestrian pushbuttons be installed at locations along Richland Avenue (Route 3054) from Route 462 (Market Street) in the City of York to Country Club Road in Spring Garden Township, Country Club Road at Grantley Road in Spring Garden Township, South George Street (Route 3036) from 2nd Street/Parkway Boulevard in North York Borough to Route 30 in Manchester Township, and North George Street (Route 181) from Route 30 to Lightner Road in Manchester Township.
Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.
This project is expected to be completed by January 29, 2024.
