Description
Update: Service Restored for More than 50 Percent of Impacted Customers in Freedom/Economy Borough, Pa.

Our next update will be at posted at 9 a.m. on October 19, 2023.

Columbia Gas service technicians continue to make progress in restoring service to approximately 4,000 Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania customers in and around Baden, Conway, Economy Borough and Freedom, and small sections of Brighton Heights and Rochester in Beaver County.

Phased restoration

The safety of our customers is our number one priority. Columbia Gas customers have been grouped into six phases to ensure that the overall restoration is completed in the quickest and safest manner possible.

Service restorations have been completed in phases 1 and 2, with natural gas service now restored to more than 50 percent of customers overall. Restoration of service for customers in the remaining phases will continue over the next several days, so we ask customers for their patience and understanding as we work our way through the restoration process.

Some customers may see service restored sooner than others, so we ask for your patience and understanding as we work our way safely through the restoration process.

Please see the maps below for a general overview and status of the areas included in each of the phases.

Warming center

The warming center at the Conway Borough Municipal Building, at 801 First Avenue in Conway, will remain open throughout the duration of the restoration process, offering items such as dry shampoo and cleansing wipes, refreshments, and cots/blankets for affected customers who may want overnight accommodations.

What customers can expect during restoration

Columbia Gas crews continue to go door-to-door, performing safety checks and relighting natural gas appliances. Crews will be working throughout the night, and homes where service has not been restored yet are asked to keep their porch lights on.

To learn more about the relight process, please watch the See how we restore service after an outage video below.

All Columbia Gas employees and contractors wear company-issued ID badges with their photos on them.

Crews will be circulating through neighborhoods multiple times to reach customers who may not be home when crews make initial visits to customers’ homes. For customers who cannot be reached during the service restoration process, door hangers will be left at their homes informing them of the outage and requesting they call Columbia Gas at 1-888-460-4332 for a service technician to be dispatched to restore service to their homes.

We apologize for this inconvenience and thank customers for their patience.
