FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 9, 2023
LITTLESTOWN BOROUGH AUTHORITY WATER AND SEWER CUSTOMERS
MANDATORY WATER CONSERVATION IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Due to the continued shortage of rain in our area, lowered stream flows and ground water levels are expected to continue to impact our community water system. Effective immediately a mandatory water conservation ban is now in effect. Currently two critical water sources for the Borough have been impacted and are not able to be utilized. As such, we are requiring that all residents and businesses reduce your nonessential water use. While water conservation is always encouraged, it is currently a necessity to protect our vital community asset.
Mandatory water conservation includes:
DO NOT WATER YOUR LAWN OR GARDEN.
DO NOT USE WATER TO WASH YOUR SIDEWALKS,DRIVEWAY OR SIDING.
NO FILLING OF POOLS OR HOT TUBS.
NO OPEN BURNING.
NO WASHING OF VEHICLES EXCEPT AT A CAR WASH THAT RECYCLES WATER.
HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR NON-ESSENTIAL WATER USE:
Run your dishwasher and washing machine less often, and only when full.
Don’t let the faucet run while brushing your teeth or shaving. Take shorter showers.
When mowing your lawn, set blades 2-3 inches high. Longer grass shades the soil, improving moisture retention.
Check and repair household leaks.
Anyone caught in violation of the Mandatory water ban is subject to fines and immediate termination of water service.
