Special Weather Statement issued July 9 at 2:48PM EDT by NWS State College PA
At 247 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Spry, moving northeast at 25 mph. Other storms were forming just to
the north of this storm.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation
possible.
Locations impacted include...
York, Weigelstown, Columbia, Millersville, Red Lion, Spry,
Dallastown, Shiloh, East York, Stonybrook-Wilshire, West York,
Maytown, Shrewsbury, Codorus, Grantley, Valley Green, Tyler
Run-Queens Gate, Valley View, Mountville and Manchester.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Very heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 600 PM EDT for
south central Pennsylvania.
